We've been seeing more copies of this Yeezy colorway that are so close to the real thing that some consignment stores are refusing to authenticate them. This replica we're comparing today claims to be from a leaked batch from an APE factory, so some tips below may apply to other Yeezy 500 colorways too.

1. Inside Label - always pay attention to the "adidas" on the bottom left corner. adidias factories, when printing this on the label, are not always consistent about how bold it looks. However, adidas has certain strict rules for example the registered trademark sign should never be touching the "s" in adidas. This particular replica misses this detail.

We've mentioned this in a previous comparison, the sophisticated craftsmanship of adidas labels means the QR code is very carefully printed. If the label shows the 01/18 (January 2018) date, there should be a small black dot above the QR code the top right corner, just above the first box. The replica's black dot on the other hand, is above the second box from the right. The position of the black dot refers to the calendar month the shoe was manufactured; any exceptions means it is likely a replica.

2. Insole - Yeezy 500s have a unique insole that has separate red, yellow, and green sections. As you can see from the picture, the replica insole has an overflowing yellow section and the red section is not filled up properly.

Small black dots should be frequent and spread evenly across the insole. Replicas usually have less/no red dots.

3. Stitching - examine the stitching first when it comes to the insole. All Yeezy 500s have loose, wide stitches. Replicas tend to accidentally over-perfect this part and have stitches that are too tidy or close together.

The material used for the insole should be delicate and shiny. Replicas, to save costs, often opt for a rougher, duller fabric. The nylon mesh of the real insole is smooth, and in this case the pores in the fabric of the replica insole are too wide.
