Since we managed to get our hands on a super well-made replica, we did a side by side comparison of the Nike Air Fog 1 (AR4237-800)!
We mentioned in a previous op-ed that the barcode on the inside label should feature stripes of only two types of thickness - one thick and one thin. If there is a third stripe, it is definitely a warning sign. Although very similar, this replica uses a third stripe as you can see from the red circle.
Next, although both midsoles are air cushions, the real shoe has a fuller cushion while the replica's cushion is less inflated. While a minor detail, it feels and looks different enough to differentiate the two.
This replica is one of the better ones we've come across lately, and it definitely required a close examination as there were very few foolproof differences.
